Thank you for explaining that the proper and professional way to repoint a typical brick chimney stack is to grind off between 15 and 25 millimeters of the deteriorating mortar joints all around. My mother claims that the chimney's stack is broken. I'll advise her to hire a professional chimney mason to assist her with the brickwork repair.
